Firat Neziroglu

The work of Turkish weaver Firat Neziroglu bends the mind. Though mostly flat-woven tapestries with some texture, his intimate and detailed portraits appear heavily sculptural, leaping from their frames like dancers. There is a real movement in his pieces; little wonder, as Firat is a dancer himself. The exposed warp, distance from the wall and shadow are all surprising elements that add depth and interest.
